Now, all speculation has ended, as actor Rajkummar Rao himself has confirmed. Stree Fame Actor will be portraying the cricket legend in the film.
In an interview, Rajkummar opened up about taking on the role. Actor saying, “Now that Dada himself has confirmed it, I should make it official too.
He Added, Yes, I’m doing his biopic. Playing Sourav Ganguly is a huge responsibility for me. I’m quite nervous about this role, but the journey is going to be exciting.”
Rajkummar is working hard to get into the skin of the character. Rajkumar is even learning Bengali to make his portrayal authentic.
Luckily, it has been a bit easier for him, as his wife Patralekhaa is Bengali. She has helped him with the language.
It cannot be said yet which actress will play the role of Dona Ganguly.
Ganguly Had Dropped Hints Earlier
A few months ago, Sourav Ganguly had hinted that Rajkummar Rao would be playing him in the biopic.
However, there were some delays due to date and scheduling conflicts, which put the project on hold for a while.
But now, the film has finally been greenlit. The biopic will not only showcase Dada’s cricket career. But also delve into his personal life, struggles, and pivotal moments during his captaincy.
