iPhone 16 vs iPhone 17: Apple has officially launched its new iPhone 17 series on September 9. Pre-orders will begin on September 12, and the first sale is scheduled for September 19.
As always, users are now debating whether to stick with the iPhone 16 or upgrade to the newly launched iPhone 17.
The Latest iPhone series brings noticeable improvements in design, display, performance, and camera.
It is available in Lavender, Mist Blue, Black, White, and Sage color options. Let’s take a closer look at the major differences between the two models.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 17 Design & Display
The iPhone 17 features a larger 6.3-inch display, compared to the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch screen. It now supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that can drop to 1Hz when needed.
The brightness also jumps to 3000 nits peak, which is significantly higher than the iPhone 16’s 2000 nits outdoor brightness and 1600 nits HDR brightness.
On top of that, the iPhone 17 is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, making it three times more scratch-resistant.
Performance & Processor
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is powered by Apple’s latest A19 chipset, built on a 3nm process with a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU.
Apple claims this chip is about 20% faster than the A18 used in the iPhone 16. While the iPhone 16 was no slouch, the A19 brings better speed and efficiency, pushing performance to the next level.
Camera Upgrades
The iPhone 17 introduces a dual 48MP setup – a 48MP main lens and a new 48MP ultra-wide lens, enabling 2x optical telephoto zoom and sharper macro shots.
The front camera has also been upgraded to 18MP with Center Stage support, making selfies and video calls much better.
In comparison, the iPhone 16 carried a 48MP main camera + 12MP ultra-wide lens, along with a 12MP front camera.
Battery Life
The iPhone 16 packs a 3,561mAh battery that offers around 22 hours of offline video playback.
Apple claims the iPhone 17 delivers up to 8 hours more backup than its predecessor, thanks to efficiency improvements and better durability with Ceramic Shield 2.
Price in India
iPhone 17: starts at ₹82,900 (256GB), with the 512GB model priced at ₹1,02,900.
iPhone 16: launched at ₹79,900 (128GB).
Final Verdict

For iPhone 16 or older users, upgrading to the iPhone 17 can be a worthwhile investment.
