MBIG Hosts IT Awareness Program Sakoli
He highlighted how many fraudulent companies exploit students by offering fake internships and placements in exchange for money.
“Internships are meant to enhance skills, not to exploit students financially. Any demand for money is a red flag and must be reported,” he emphasized.
The session was guided by directives from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and outlined essential do’s and don’ts:
Genuine internships are always free of cost.
Students must secure official documents such as offer letters and completion certificates.
Fraudulent practices should be treated as scams and reported immediately.
Company details should be verified through MCA portal, GST/MSME records, Google Reviews, Google News, ScamAdviser, and social media platforms.
Offenders are liable to strict legal action under the Consumer Protection Act, IT Act, and IPC.
Beyond internship scams, the program also focused on cyber security awareness. Students were cautioned against clicking unknown links, sharing sensitive data, or trusting unverified online offers.
Mr. Parkhedkar stressed that phishing attacks and fake job postings are among the fastest-rising threats today.
Faculty members and coordinators of MB Patel College played a vital role in organizing the event.
Their efforts, along with MBIG’s expertise, ensured that students gained both awareness and actionable strategies to remain safe online.
Through this initiative, MB Patel College reaffirmed its commitment to equipping students with real-world skills alongside academic excellence.
