World Cup 2027 Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli: Sourav Ganguly stated that it won’t be easy for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to stay fit and secure a place in India’s ODI World Cup squad for 2027.

He said that everyone needs to understand that, like all players, one day the game will move on from them, and they too will move away from the game.

The former Indian captain emphasized that it will be a tough task for both Kohli and Rohit to remain in peak condition

And earn selection for the 2027 ODI World Cup. He pointed out the inevitability of change in cricket careers, saying that eventually, all players have to move on.

Recently, both Kohli and Rohit announced their retirement from Test cricket.

The next ODI World Cup is set to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in 2027.

By then, Kohli will be 38 and Rohit 40 years old. India will play only nine bilateral series comprising 27 ODIs before the tournament — averaging just about 15 matches a year.

Ganguly remarked, “Only 15 matches a year. It won’t be easy.” Both players had expressed their desire to play in the ODI World Cup after stepping away from Test cricket.

When asked what advice he would offer the duo, Ganguly — who was himself a legendary ODI batsman — said, “I won’t offer any advice. I believe they understand their game well. They will take their own decisions.”

He added that players like Kohli are rare and not easy to replace, although he’s not worried about Indian cricket’s future after their retirement.

He further said, “I’m not worried. Virat is a magnificent player. It will take time to find someone like him, but I’m not surprised.”

Speaking about Yuvraj Singh, Ganguly said he was a special player who shined in white-ball cricket but didn’t get enough chances to showcase his talent in the traditional format.
