IPL 2025 Shreyas Iyer Abuse Shashank Singh: The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may have ended with a historic victory for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), but the team that made it to the final—Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings (PBKS)—also remained in the spotlight.
Even though they narrowly missed the title by just 6 runs, Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy was widely praised.
Now that the season is over, Punjab’s star finisher Shashank Singh has made a very honest and surprising statement about his captain, Shreyas Iyer.

IPL 2025 No Better T20 Captain in the World Than Shreyas Iyer
Echoing the opinions of many, Shashank Singh stated that there is currently no better captain in world T20 cricket than Shreyas Iyer.
In a media interview, he said,“From what I’ve seen and heard from others, there is no better captain in world cricket at the moment.
He gives us freedom, treats everyone equally. No one would say that Shreyas behaves differently with anyone.
In the dressing room, the younger players see him as a calm guy.
He’s the only captain who has told us that if anyone has a suggestion during the game, they’re free to come and share it.
If he thinks it’s a good suggestion, he’ll follow it. That’s rare.”
Shashank Singh Reveals the Qualifier 2 Incident
After the Qualifier 2 match against Mumbai Indians, a video went viral where Shreyas Iyer was seen scolding Shashank Singh after a run-out incident.
Shashank now addressed the controversy and accepted that he deserved the scolding, saying he was running as if he were on a beach.
He said, “I deserved it. Shreyas should’ve slapped me. My father didn’t speak to me until the final.
I was so casual—it wasn’t even like running in a garden, it was like strolling on the beach.
It was a crucial moment. Shreyas made it clear that he didn’t expect that from me. But later, he took me out for dinner.”
Shashank also expressed optimism, saying, “Even though we lost the final this time, we’ll win it next season.”
